Our founder and co-owner, Derek Cheung, is a seasoned healthcare professional that graduated from Cornell University with a Masters of Health Administration and a Bachelors in Health Care Policy. Based in Los Angeles, CA, Derek's passion for marketing blossomed as he observed the impact of effective marketing strategies on healthcare institutions. In 2023, he and his partner Sam merged their companies and established Umbra Media with the mission of helping dental practice owners expand their client base through results-driven digital marketing approaches.

Based in Arlington, VA, Sam's passion for marketing blossomed while supporting local businesses in his area get more clients and customers. After 5 years of operating BASD Marketing, he joined Derek at to form Umbra Media with his wealth of experience in dental marketing to help dental practice owners grow their practices using effective marketing strategies.
